Lay Readers

Reading at Mass is an essential Lay Ministry through which the Word of God is proclaimed to the congregation.

Any member of the congregation can become a Reader, there is no upper or lower age limit, although an understanding of the reading is necessary. Are you a confident and competent reader with a clear voice? Does this ministry appeal to you? Would you be able to serve as a Reader at your particular Eucharistic Celebration for the foreseeable future?
Whichever of the three weekend Eucharistic Celebrations you attend, there is always room for additional readers. If this is your expertise, the rota organiser listed above would gladly welcome you. Or, in the first instance, you may prefer to speak to Father Brett.

Following an initial short trial and training session, new readers would be included on the next rota, scheduling them to read once every few weeks. It is essential to be aware of the rota for your Mass and to make any necessary alternative arrangements if you are unable to read on the prescribed day.
