The school is a five-form entry bi-lateral school for boys, between the ages of 11 and 18. A small number of girls are admitted into the Sixth Form.
The Roman Catholic community of South East Essex resolved to provide a Christian education for their sons within the disciplines and traditions of the Catholic Church.
The school was therefore established in September 1960.
