'Striving to be 'CHRIST in the World'

The Catholic parish of
St George & the English Martyrs

Clubs & Groups

Everyone is very welcome! Please take a look and see if anything tempts you. The 'Parish Newsletter' is a great source of up-to-date news on when these are held, as times and locations occasionally change.

  • Art Group

The Parish Art Group meets in the Church Hall on Thursdays from 1.00pm to 3.00pm. The group, open to all comers, has about seventeen members. This is a club rather than a class and the artistic talents of the members are wide and varied.

If you are interested and would like to share your talent and hobby, then you would be very welcome.  Just come along and have a chat.

  • Flowers

New helpers are always very welcome!  Just contact the office for further details.

  • Gardening

Our enthusiastic gardening team are always looking for help!  Please contact the office if tempted.

  • Cleaning

We are always looking for volunteers to help with the day to day cleaning. As part of a team, jobs are shared and times can be flexible. Please consider helping if you can.

  • General Help

New helpers are always very welcome! Just contact the office for further details.

justice and peace

Catholic Social Teaching is based on the belief that God has a plan for creation, a plan to build his kingdom of peace, love and justice. It holds that God has a special place in this story for each of us, whoever we are. Our part in this plan isn’t just limited to things ‘spiritual’, or things we might do on Sundays, but it involves every aspect of our lives, from the things we pray about, to how we live as a responsible global citizens. Our place in this story is to respond to our vocation to promote the common good, a call to treat everyone, our neighbours locally, nationally and internationally, as our brothers and sisters.
